Mars conjunct Saturn in Transit

Today we’re talking about the upcoming transit of Mars conjunct Saturn, which is exact on April 10, 2024. This transit happens once every two years and this time it occurs in Pisces.

You may go into this transit feeling like you’ve been held back and you’re just waiting to unleash the full force of your powers of creativity. This transit could feel very frustrating, like your engine is revving but you’re being held down and unable to complete tasks you want to accomplish.

Obstacles in your way might require more patience, perseverance, hard work and planning but you should be able to persevere and achieve more than you would otherwise. This is a great time to overcome limitations or fears, to step up and harness all your faculties in spite of the difficult circumstances you’re facing.

This transit can give you the stamina and patience and initiative to work harder than ever, but it could also result in negative outbursts, passive aggression, nastiness and petty vindictiveness. It definitely needs to be dealt with constructively or else it could be a very destructive transit. You certainly don’t want to antagonize people needlessly at this time because there is a sense that this explosive energy is just barely being held in check.

Mars conjunct Saturn in the Natal Chart

With every aspect there are positive and negative expressions possible, but this is one of the more difficult conjunctions because the energies of Mars and Saturn are so opposite to each other. People with this aspect really needs to make a concerted effort to use it constructively or it can easily become a destructive, bitter and abusive influence. It’s like the stereotypical father who tells his kids they don’t have a right to expect an easy life because his life has been so hard. It’s a bitterness that becomes a cycle of violence if you’re not careful or aware of it.

People with this aspect tend to have great powers of endurance and mental fortitude. It’s the combination of two very opposite energies, Mars being the fiery motivating aggressive, martial force and Saturn being the planet of restriction and discipline, a much more conservative archetype. This aspect tends to create a personality that oscillates between action and control.

They can have an amazing amount of perseverance, discipline, patience and authority if they are able to make the most of this conjunction. This is the kind of person who will likely say that nothing has ever come easy to them. They will feel like everything they’ve accomplished in life has come through hard work and struggle and discipline and the harnessing of all their faculties to attain their goals.

This aspect in a sign like Aries or Sagittarius would have a very different expression than it does in Pisces, which we’re getting a lot of right now with major planetary placements in this watery sign.

Mars

Mars In Your Chart

Mars, in astrology, is a dynamic and fiery planet that holds a prominent place in the chart. Representing the god of war in Roman mythology, Mars is associated with energy, action, and assertiveness.

Mars is a key plant in any chart. It influences various aspects of your personality and shapes the way you approach life.

Mars’ Meaning

Mars is often described as the planet of action, and its position in your birth chart can offer valuable insights into your drive, ambition, and how you pursue their goals.

If Mars is strongly placed, it can signify a person who is proactive, assertive, and unafraid to take risks. On the flip side, challenging aspects to Mars (like squares and oppositions) may manifest as impatience, impulsiveness, or a tendency to become easily frustrated.

Mars and Desire

The red hue of Mars is not only symbolic of its association with war but also of its connection to passion and desire. In matters of love and relationships, Mars plays a significant role in expressing your romantic and sexual desires.

It can provide clues about your approach to intimacy and the kind of energy you bring into your partnerships with others.

Mars’ Rulership

Mars is the ruling planet of Aries and co-ruler of Scorpio. Its influence is palpable in these signs, imbuing them with a potent dose of vigor and determination.

Aries, driven by the impulsive and fearless nature of Mars, charges ahead with enthusiasm, embodying the pioneering spirit of this planet.

On the other hand, Scorpio, with Mars as its co-ruler, channels the energy in a more intense and strategic manner, diving into the depths of emotions and transformation.

The Chase

It rules the chase to find a mate, excitement and adrenalin rushes.

Mars Returns

The concept of “Mars Returns” is another fascinating aspect of Martian astrology. Similar to the well-known Saturn Return, Mars Return occurs approximately every two years, signifying a period when the energy, motivation, and assertiveness associated with Mars are heightened.

This can be a time of significant personal growth, as you may feel a surge of vitality and a renewed sense of purpose.

Mars in Forecasting

In predictive astrology, the transits and progressions involving Mars can serve as indicators of periods where you may feel compelled to take action, face challenges head-on, or experience increased vitality.

However, it’s crucial to approach these influences with mindfulness and awareness, as Mars’ energy can be intense and may require a balanced and conscious channeling.

Mutual Reception

Mutual Reception

Mutual Reception

Two planets may be in mutual reception when each planet is in the other planet’s sign.

Example: The Sun in Cancer and the Moon in Leo are in mutual reception because the Sun rules the sign of Leo and the Moon rules the sign of Cancer.

Technically planets in mutual reception need a Ptolemaic aspect joining them to be considered in mutual reception, but this strict rule can we waived now and then I believe.

A planet in its own sign cannot be in mutual reception with another planet.

Mutual Reception by Sign

When mutual reception by sign occurs, and each planet is in the other planet’s sign, it’s like the two planets have entered the party but it is crowded.

Only at the “aspect” have they found each other in the melee.

Then when it’s a Ptolemaic aspect they fall in love in the Moonlight.

Sigh…

Relationships Bonds

When two planets are in mutual reception it creates a bond between them that cannot immediately be seen as with an aspect.

Mutual reception is like a back-channel of energy that flows but you can only see it when you take a closer look.

Like when someone is chatting behind your back to another person and they have an allegiance to them and you don’t realise they are related, like cousins, and that is the connection.

And that’s the lot. It is quite a comprehensive list and one chart may or may not have any mutual receptions.

You may decide to only use the traditional planets from the Sun to Saturn and this would be the case for creating a dispositor tree.

    Mars in Aries: Fireworks!

    Mars in Aries: Fireworks

When Mars enters Aries it is at the beginning of the zodiac

    [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/embed?listType=playlist&list=PLOcSgrrClIM81-brB-jsqVIUIt3RUO11g[/embedyt]

    Where does the zodiac begin?

The zodiac starts at zero degrees Aries. Because the Sun on its path, the plane of the ecliptic crosses the celestial equator at zero declination on its path towards the northern hemisphere.

The Sun crosses the celestial equator twice a year at the equinoxes. Once going north March 20/21st (the Aries ingress) and once going south on September 22/23rd (the Libra ingress).

    Planetary Ingress

An ingress is when a planet enters a sign or house either moving direct or retrograde.

As Mars enters Aries it is going home to the sign it rules.

    The Aries Point

The Aries Point is zero degrees Aries in any chart. Some astrologers take any cardinal sign’s zero degrees as an Aries point. The cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

What to expect when Mars is in Aries

    • Action
    • Energy
    • Heat
    • Competition
    • Masculinity
    • Activity
    • War
    • Conflict
    • Confrontations
    • Excitement
    • Sexual awareness
    • Fires
    • Push, push, push

All of these things are ruled by Mars. When Mars is in its own sign it can operate cleanly and clearly at its true meaning.

Whilst Mars was recently in Pisces it was not a good place for Mars’ energy to be expressed.

    Precession of the Equinoxes

This is the phenomena that the point of the vernal equinox (when the Sun enters Aries going north) is moving backwards through the constellation signs at the slow rate of one sign over a two thousand (ish) year period.

    [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/embed?listType=playlist&list=PLOcSgrrClIM_WD4BsEkltgb8paS0V08_l&v=nsTvpSRmD7s[/embedyt]

    The Great Years

In astrology a great year is almost 26000 years and each Great Year is divided into twelve Great Months or Ages of around a two thousand year (give or take) period. You have heard of these Ages as for example the Age of Aquarius.

Therefore the Age of Aries came before the Age of Pisces. Before the Age of Aries was the Age of Taurus.

In Ages each sign is before the present one going backwards through the signs. The “Ages” are reversed because of the precession of the equinoxes.

Great Years show large sweeps of history and are background noise for each time period.

    The Age of Aquarius

We are now living in the Age of Aquarius (which began around the year 2000AD) and will last for just over two thousand years until about 4000AD. The symbol for Aquarius is two wavy lines like radio waves or microwaves and all technology waves and wireless devices and gadgets.

    The Age of Pisces

Looking back, the Age of Pisces occurred from about year 1AD (at Christ’s birth) until 2000AD. The symbol prevalent at this time was the fish and this can still be seen on bumper stickers to indicate a Christian.

    The Age of Aries

The Age of Aries was from +/- 2000BC to 1AD which is again a two thousand year period or “Age”. The symbols used in this age were the ram which is a male sheep. In Egypt Rameses I, II and III were cracking the whip. And the Romans developed metal armour and weapons to wear in battles and wars.

When considering this information you can see that the Mars ingress into Aries is highly important.

Mars enters Aries and starts the whole cycle again every two years. This is the time it takes Mars to make one orbit of the Sun and is the length or a Martian year. Obviously we are not experiencing Mars entering Aries for the first time it has happened. Mars get around.

We experience a Martian ingress into Aries every two years.

    Mars disposes planets in Aries

As Mars moves through Aries it disposes planets in that sign. When Mars is in Aries it is a prime position to be final dispositor. Always give a quick scan to see if this is the case.
